Opinion of a person with hearing difficulty

The writer is someone who cycles in Australia and who has hearing difficulty.

“I am against this law as I wear hearing aids.

The helmet causes feedback to my hearing aids and also the helmet effects my balance because I am an aid user.

I have to write to the DPI for a helmet exemption every 5 yrs which I am being discriminated because of my condition. I have a condition which is a permanent one which is for life and the dept won't for some reason give me a permanent one.

The current law punishes me for being deaf but then again Australia is a nation of regulations with no common sense. Every time an accident or injury happens, govt rushed to introduce laws when common sense should prevail. The govt is good at bringing in the new laws for this but hopeless at managing the health and education .

Wish I was born in another country....”
