Cyclists are less likely to suffer head injuries than other road users.

Cycle helmet use

In towns and for utility cycling, less than 10%. Higher in countryside for leisure cycling. Sports cyclists c. 94%.

Cycle use

4% of daily journeys in France are made by cycle.
Cycle use is growing in towns and cities, much less so in suburbs and countryside.
